St. George Continuing Care Retirement Community, located is Roswell, Georgia, reiterates the importance of natural environments. The $35 million facility is located on 18.5 wooded acres and consists of 130 units, including 25 assisted living units. The facility is situated on top of a hill, surrounded by massive, old walnut and hickory trees. Simple organization of key amenities is a necessity of senior living facility planning and design. As residents age and become less mobile, having a community center where residents can gather becomes increasingly important. The visual connection between amenities (mail center, dining room, game room) triggers a connection between residents, and thus a connection with their community. The goal was to create an environment where residents could continue to interact with each other on a daily basis.
